This is actually an interesting place that we visited on the 2nd day after returning from Wind Cave. It's totally worth a visit if you want to know more about Sarawakian Chinese, from where, when, why, how they rooted in this land long time ago. It's very easy to access, just located in Waterfront near the James Brook Bistro.
No photos are allowed to be took here. It is quite small yet informative. I did learnt a lot from this trip. :p Once you inside the museum, a small room on your left will play a short video giving a general idea of the status of Sarawakian Chinese to visitors. And then there are some biography of Chinese leaders back in then the Chinese community and their relative contributions and achievements in the development of Sarawak or their own community.
What attracted me most is the dialects of the Chinese here. Me myself is a Hokkian, but can't understand Hokkian and can speak Hakka and Cantonese. Each dialect is completed with descriptions about their occupation, and audio record that once pressed will play a short conversation using that particular dialect. Wee~ I don't understand most but I think this is fun! :D Okay now I understand why there are always Hainam Kopitiam as their job always related to the kitchens. Knowledge gained! haha.
And then there is Chinese musical instruments, with each one of them displayed and described. Education of Chinese is also emphasized here, where the students will need to take exam besides SPM in this Chinese school system. Family surnames of Chinese also can be found here, I found mine of course—— 陈,pronounced as 'chen', written as 'Tan'. :D
Well-maintenance little museum! :D
